Tibicina’s Bag

Tibicina’s Bag

I can actually post this now: the lady in question has received this and it seems to have made her very happy. 🙂

I found out that one of my online friends, and a dear friend of my sister was feeling a bit down. So I decided that she needed something to let her know she was loved. I’ve been wanting to make a bag out of one of my books for a very long time now, so this was my opportunity.

Of course, first I had to change the pattern! Instead of kimono fabric, I used a fat quarter set that I’ve had for a while, and embroidered a stumpwork dragonfly and blackberry branch on it. The directions for the technique of both came from Jane Nichlas’ stumpwork books, but the design is mine. And I’ve got the 10 rough sketches before I got it right to prove it. I used p

urple cotton for the main bag, and a cool purple print for the lining, which of course, I didn’t get a picture of…

I couldn’t get a very clear image of the stitches. I thought the photos were clearer until after I mailed the bag away. I’m still getting used to this blogging thing. Live and learn.

  1. I love the bag and I’m sure the lady will love it too. Isn’t it always the way to find you are not happy with the photo as soon as it’s packed and sent? Happened to me the other day!
