Basic Embroidery Stitches – Fly Stitch

Fly stitch can be used close set to form borders, or separated individually to make little motifs (like the “champagne glass” I mention in the video.) This is a stitch that is worthwhile to take the time to play around with. It is very versatile, and can be used for so much that it is difficult to enumerate.

In the image illustrating this post, I even used fly stitch for the letters in the words. Notice how different threads make the stitch look very different. It really pays to play around with every stitch as you learn it. Some will work in situations better than others. 🙂
