Basic Embroidery Stitches – Feather Stitch

Basic Embroidery Stitches – Feather Stitch

Feather stitch is often seen as a seam embellishment in antique crazy quilts. It’s got that complicated look, but doesn’t take a lot of work to create it.

Uses

Feather stitch makes a great base stitch for ferns and seaweed. Add detached chain details for petals. Other than that, my imagination is limited when using this stitch, though while stitching the example I discovered that it would make great scales… I’m embarrassed by this, but there it is. I would welcome any ideas about how YOU use it in the comments!

Video Changes

I figured out how to make my setup work better for very closeup shooting. Does this work better for y’all? Let me know in the comments!
